Khizra Sheikh

I found it yesterday while rummaging through my notebook. It has gone old with time but makes me wonder if I am still this hopeful as I was a few years back.

Death is the Part of Life, Just as the night of the day
The dead leaves some fading footprints on the sand
And the life seems temporarily going farther away
Mama, what requires us to learn this distance game?

My child the change as it brings in the bay,
The lush green, yellow, brown and it falls
Poor crumples kissing their graves clay
Mingling, withering and fighting alone in the gay

You can watch this deadly decay by September,
The new green babies then come again in March, April and May
What they only say is…
Life goes on and it grows again
